App for finding esoteric practitioners

Project at a glance

Problem

Venera is a platform for people who follow esoteric and spiritual practices and for practitioners who run consultations and publish content. The client wanted one app for finding a guide, booking, payment, messaging and video consultations. Practitioners needed tools to manage their schedules, services and articles; administrators needed tools to moderate practitioners.

What we did
  • Catalog of guides with consultation prices and length
  • Practitioner profiles with a description and video intro
  • Library of materials on spiritual practices
  • “Ask the Universe” personal forecast
What the client wanted
  • Help users find a guide that fits their request and budget
  • Bring booking, payment and communication with practitioners into the app
  • Give practitioners tools to manage bookings and content

Choosing a guide for your request

We built a catalog where users can get to know guides and compare the price and length of consultations. The cards show photos, short descriptions and review scores.

A detailed profile helps users learn more about a practitioner’s approach before reaching out. It holds a description, a video intro, online status and consultation terms. From the profile, users can start a chat or book a session.

Designing search and booking

We designed filters by practice, request topic, length and price. Users can narrow the search to their request and budget: choose a practice area, set a price range or use preset price brackets.

In the booking flow, users first choose a service, then a time for the consultation. Until the choice is complete, the booking button stays inactive. For the next steps of a consultation, we designed the transition to payment, chat and a video session.

Library and personal forecast

The app has a library with “Astrology” and “Tarot and Oracle Cards” sections. Illustrated cards with titles and short descriptions help users pick something to read. On the server, we implemented comments, replies and each user’s comment history.

We also built “Ask the Universe”: users enter their birth details and their question, get a personal forecast and can share the result.

The app and platform tools

The user app is built with Flutter and Dart; the backend uses Python and FastAPI with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

For practitioners, we prepared the account interface and the profile backend, and implemented uploading and deleting the video intro. To attract practitioners, we built a landing page with an application form; for moderation, an admin panel with a list of practitioners and profile editing. The landing page and the panel are built with React and TypeScript.

On the server, we also implemented referrals: personal codes and links connect invited users with those who invited them, and the system keeps track of events and rewards.

Target audience

  • People who follow esoteric and spiritual practices

What users need

Job to be done — from situation to outcome

Situation

I have a personal question I want to bring to a guide, and a set budget for a consultation.

Need

I want to find a practitioner whose approach suits me and know the consultation terms in advance.

Outcome

I can choose a guide deliberately: I learn about their approach before reaching out and compare consultation prices within my budget.
